The battle between Microsoft, Google and Yahoo for the<\/span> advertising market has made visible the way marketing<\/span> will be done in the near future.<\/span> Making a follow-up of my last post,<\/span> I<\/span> wanted to point<\/span> out the main<\/span> drivers of this Battle for<\/span> Titans.<\/p>\n

WiFi access:<\/strong> the idea is to offer free<\/span> access to internet for<\/span> all.<\/span> Google has already fully covered the US<\/span> city<\/span> Mountain View<\/span> and is pursuing San Francisco in<\/span> a battle with Microsoft. Lots of companies like \u201cThe cloud\u201d, Boingo, Earthlink, FON, among many others are creating huge WiFi networks, covering entire cities and making partnerships with these giants. But obviously there\u2019s a business<\/span> model<\/span> behind, and is \u201cTargeted advertising\u201d. This kind of ads would provide relevant content and services, including weather, news,<\/span> and local government<\/span> services, as<\/span> well as<\/span> restaurant, nightlife, and movie listings. People<\/span> has to accept advertisements instead of paying for the<\/span> access, but this time, they know your location and they can offer to their business<\/span> customers in this way a much efficient marketing<\/span> campaigns.

\nFree<\/span> cell phones:<\/strong> Recently in an interview, the Google\u2019s CEO Eric Schmidt, stated the idea that cell phones should be free<\/span> for<\/span> everyone. The devices should be paid fully, as<\/span> well as<\/span> internet access, by targeted advertising. This is exactly what I<\/span> was talking about in my last post,<\/span> they know your interests, your location, and so, they can make really sharp efficient ads that could result interesting to you. Let\u2019s make an example; you\u2019re going to the supermarket to buy the groceries. In an association with the supermarket and Google, they have the history of the things you buy and a way to reach you; so, you enter the supermarket and immediately after, you receive a message saying: \u201cYour favorite Swiss<\/span> chocolates are in offer today\u201d or \u201cThe products a, b<\/span> and c,<\/span> that you normally buy have a 15% discount for<\/span> you today\u201d.<\/p>\n

With these new<\/span> marketing<\/span> approaches, you just have to correlate information<\/span> to get incredibly efficient services. Right now we can just see the top of the iceberg, but below, there are ideas that will appear before our<\/span> eyes in a vertiginous speed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
